I Need Advice on Using Webrecorder for Archiving Dynamic Websites

Hey guys…

I have been working on a personal project to preserve a series of websites that are rich in interactive elements—things like animations, dynamically loaded content, and even some embedded videos.

I have tried a few times with different configurations, but the results have been hit-or-miss. Sometimes, the archived pages look great, but other times, the interactive content doesn’t load properly, or the site elements appear broken. I’m aware that Webrecorder uses a headless browser approach, but I’m not entirely sure how to optimize it for the kind of dynamic content I’m dealing with.

Here is some points that was I faced in my project:

  • Are there any settings or methods within Webrecorder that are particularly effective for sites that rely heavily on JavaScript? I’ve noticed that some scripts don’t seem to execute as expected in the archived version.

  • I’m also curious about how to handle embedded media like videos and audio files. Is there a way to ensure these are captured in their entirety without manually clicking on every element?

  • I’ve been using the Webrecorder Desktop app mostly, but I’ve read that the browser extension might have some advantages. Would using the extension provide better results for my needs, or is there another tool or approach within the Webrecorder ecosystem that might work better?

  • I’m concerned about the size of the archives. Are there any tips on managing or compressing resources without losing essential elements of the site?

I also check this: https://forum.webrecorder.net/t/problem-archiving-media-rich-website-using-archiveweb-chrome-plmendix But I have not found any solution. Could anyone suggest the best solution for this?

Thanks in advance!
