ReplayWeb.page wont display WACZ files

Hello,

I’ve uploaded a WACZ file that was created via Browsertrix but they won’t display giving me the error

“No Pages are defined in this archive. The archive may be empty. [Try browsing by URL].”

The page will display within the Browsertrix page. But not in replayweb.page or the downloaded app.

Help much appreciated.

Any chance you could link me to the crawl URL on Browsertrix so I can try and replicate this? There shouldn’t be a difference between ReplayWeb.page as integrated in the app and the ReplayWeb.page site / app.

If you could let me know where in the Browsertrix windows I can find the crawl URL, I am happy to share it (this is the crawl id - does that help? manual-20241121102857-802f92e5-5e2)

I just meant the URL in the browser! The crawl ID works too, just needed a way of finding it on my end :slight_smile:

This appears to be an issue with the way we display “Multi-WACZ” files. Browsertrix splits the WACZ archive files it generates into 10GB increments while crawling to help prevent data loss in the event of a serious error, when using the Download Item button in the Archived Items list it will group them all into a single “Multi-WACZ” file which contains all the same data, but is structured slightly differently.

The individual WACZ files are available in the WACZ Files tab of the archived item’s details page. For now, try downloading the individual WACZ file(s) from there by clicking their entry in the list instead of the “Download as Multi-WACZ” button. They should replay fine.

We’re looking into a fix on our end. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

EDIT: This will be fixed in the next ReplayWeb.page release.

This should be fixed in the latest version of ReplayWeb.page! Grab the desktop app here if you use that and feel free to use the multi-WACZ download as you were before, it should work as expected!
